Resource Woodworks, Inc. (RW) is a Pacific Northwest forest products company located in Tacoma, Washington, that specializes in remilling salvaged timber and lumber. Our wood is predominately old growth Douglas Fir harvested sustainabily from the "Urban Forest." Our mill creates special timber frame packages, and flooring and decking of all sizes with timber salvaged from demolition sites. It is the most environmentally responsible, and quality sound choice you can make when building your home.

As the Industrial Revolution took hold in the Northwest in the first half of the 1900's, people built big structures with big timbers. And they made a good choice. Old Growth Douglas Fir is some of the most structurally sound, stable, beautiful timber on the planet. Now while the buildings are falling apart, the timbers inside are more seasoned and stable than any green timber you can get on the market today. Reclaimed Fir Timbers offer a great timber option. Pieces often have evidence of previous use which gives wonderful character. If a dynamic finish is what you are after, then you have found your source.

• Specie: Douglas Fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii)
• Source: Mostly industrial/old commercial buildings.
• Moisture: As-is, more dry with age.
• HC/FOHC: Most sizes are Heart Center; some smaller sizes can be FOHC.
• Holes: Will vary substantially from one source to another
• Surface: Band-Sawn: Band-sawn texture on all four sides.
• Planed: Surface-planed on all four sides to create a smooth look. Targeted at 1/2” under standard size. Available with square or beveled edges.
• Distressed: Adz cuts on faces with worn edges.
• Sizes: Vary depending upon current inventory.   Can be cut to order.
• Weight: Typically, 3 pounds per board foot
• Stability: Reclaimed timbers shrink, warp and twist in their previous use. There should be very little, if any, movement in reclaimed timbers

The unique distinctiveness of a reclaimed wood product is generally what makes it so desirable. Although we may provide a sample, photograph or description of a particular type of wood product as an example to demonstrate the general characteristics of that type of product, such sample, photograph or description may not necessarily be representative of the product actually delivered due to the great variability in color, grain, texture, sign of previous use, etc.
